SpaceBox Lite · free beta now

Start with Lite. Free.

SpaceBox Lite is a free app available now. The paid Cloud and Hardware tiers are not yet available; they arrive with the full SpaceBox release, along with the features they add. Every tier is end-to-end encrypted with keys only you hold.

Common questions.

What's the difference between SpaceBox Lite and the full release?
SpaceBox Lite is out now, a free app that turns your device into a SpaceBox and lets you receive end-to-end encrypted drops from anyone you invite (a personal vault across your own devices, or an organisation inbox). It already includes the on-device encryption, post-quantum keys and passwordless login. The full release adds two-way per-recipient sharing, ownership transfer, the dead-man's-switch, a 24-word recovery phrase, and the paid Cloud and Hardware tiers. See what ships where: SpaceBox Lite vs SpaceBox Ground.
If it's encrypted on my device, can i46 ever recover my files?
No. Your private key is generated locally and never sent to us. We store ciphertext only. There's no key on our side to recover with, and no support path that can open your vault. In Lite the key lives in your device's secure storage, so keep your device (and its backups) safe; the full release adds a 24-word recovery phrase so you can restore it on any device.
What happens to my data when the space tier launches?
Nothing breaks. Orbit is an upgrade you opt into from Q4 2028 using the same account and the same keys: no re-encryption, no migration. See SpaceBox Space for the full timeline.
What's the difference between Cloud and Hardware?
Identical software, different custody. Cloud is managed by us on EU infrastructure, and we still only ever hold ciphertext. Hardware is a 12 TB air-gapped appliance you own and keep on your own premises, with no conventional network interface. Compare them on SpaceBox Ground.
Is SpaceBox post-quantum secure?
Key exchange uses ML-KEM-768 (NIST FIPS 203), a standardised post-quantum algorithm, and file bodies use AES-256-GCM. That protects against harvest-now-decrypt-later attacks, where an adversary records today's traffic to decrypt it once large quantum computers exist. The full primitive list is on SpaceBox Ground.
How does login work without a password?
The server encapsulates a random secret to your public key; only your device's private key can recover it, which proves who you are. There's no password to phish, reuse, or leak, and no shared secret ever travels over the wire.
Can I cancel or get a refund?
Cloud is month-to-month: cancel anytime and your subscription stops renewing. For Hardware orders, talk to the team about lead times and terms.
